Job Description

The Finance Trustee would join the existing Trustees in delivering the charity’s exciting vision with a focus on the financials of the charity. We have an external accountant who deals with the day to day of the finances. This role would oversee that relationship and provide useful financial information to the trustees. We are looking for a truly committed volunteer - the organization is small and run solely by dedicated volunteers.
The main responsibilities of the Finance Trustee would be:

  • Liaise with the external accountants and provide answers to their queries 
  • Ensure payments to suppliers are paid on time (average 3 invoices per month)
  • Provide monthly accounts to the board (prepared by the accountants) 
  • Oversee the allocation and transfer of funds to Uganda
  • Liaise with the Independent Examiner on the annual accounts 
  • Attend the monthly board meeting

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We are looking for an individual who may have been a Financial Controller, Financial Accountant, or Bookkeeper, who has experience dealing with the day to day finances of a business/charity. This individual will need to commit approximately 1-2 hours per week.
