Job Description

You must be a fully qualified accountant with strong communication skills and the necessary gravitas to be successful in this role. You will have to be comfortable with the whole range of activities undertaken by a finance function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide critical support to sales, marketing, operations, construction and all subject matter experts within our business
  • Own the monthly consolidated management accounts. This includes presenting to the Senior Leadership Team, compiling reports, drafting documents for board meetings and writing commentary
  • Manage dedicated and shared resources in our deployed service Centre in Mumbai who perform key finance operations for Scale Space
  • Run the annual budget process and prepare reforecasts as required by our investors
  • Complete weekly cash flow forecasts and keep investors informed of any new funding requirements
  • Drive change by implementing better ways of doing things
  • Refine and maintain robust balance sheet reconciliation process
  • Liaise directly with the auditors to complete the statutory audits, external stakeholders including customers, suppliers and banks
  • Review commercial contracts to support our business managers and extract relevant invoicing and revenue recognition treatments
  • Own the purchase to pay process, and suggest new and efficient ways of buying goods and services
  • Undertake credit control which includes ownership of the automated software
  • Review and sign off VAT returns
  • Reconcile service charges for properties which we manage

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You will be a dynamic and disciplined thinker with a strong intellect, an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for making a mark in fast-paced, growing environments.

  • Solid educational achievements with a degree from a major university
  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years' experience in a similar role
  • Currently in a Financial Controller role or stellar track record that indicates potential for success on stepping up
  • Ability to develop strategy and gain the confidence of very senior business stakeholders and consistently deliver against their exceptionally high standards
  • Experience of working for a small company in a similar position is key (and operating in a matrix reporting structure will be helpful)
  • Experience dealing with management accounts, audits, VAT returns, AP, AR, budgets, cash flow forecasts
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Commercially astute, articulate and technically strong
  • Content to "roll sleeves up" and get stuck in to the detail should the situation require
  • Ability to work effectively with remote colleagues
  • Previous property and Xero experience is advantageous
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to really add value to both the commercial side of the business
  • Comfortable in a fluid, progressive and dynamic, change orientated environment
