Job Description
  • Chasing debt by e-mail and telephone
  • Reconciling accounts in SWs to ensure that they accurately reflect debt information. This includes writing off smaller variances
  • Meeting regularly with department heads to manage debt collection, and to improve processes around debt collection
  • Running weekly debt reports
  • Dealing with all queries related to payments, Investigation of customer receipts queries and unallocated payments
  • Paying commission to agents
  • Processing refunds via the bank and via our online payment system
  • Escalating accounts to management where there is a risk of non-payment
  • Sending payment receipts to agents and students
  • Writing off debt on the account
  • Inputting Supplier invoices into the exchequer system
  • Generating payment files
  • Dealing with any supplier queries
  • Updating of any supplier accounts
  • Setting up new suppliers
  • Ensuring the finance inbox and incoming post are monitored and appropriate action taken
  • Control accounts reconciliation.
  • Inputting receipts.
  • Prepare and input nominal ledger journals (receipts).
  • Resolution of unallocated receipts.
  • Operate petty cash systems
  • Post the bank statements to the ledgers.
  • Inform relevant departments of fees received directly into bank accounts.
  • Liaise with bank regarding any queries.
  • Bank transfers.
  • Other regular month end journals.
  • Reconcile specified balance sheet control accounts.
  • Daily bank balance reporting
  • Process staff credit cards

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Hold or work towards an accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or AAT
  • Expert user of Excel and accounting packages
  • Competent user of Word
  • Using accounting software systems
  • Completing financial reconciliations
  • Accounts payable experience – 2yrs +
  • Ability to organize and manage workload and to work unsupervised
  • Excellent attention to detail, but also able to see the big picture
  • Ability to reach sound judgments after careful and systematic evaluation of the facts
  • Ability to resolve problems effectively after exploring the options and considering the implications
  • Ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Discretion in handling and filing confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work as part of a small team
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Good team player
  • Ability to meet customer needs with good, high quality services
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with staff groups, colleagues and all potential partners in service delivery
