As Buyer your main duties will include but not be limited to:
* Obtain quotes from suppliers and continually negotiate to keep costs within budget, whilst ensuing supplier terms are maintained to the uppermost levels without compromising on quality
* Maintain and develop professional standards and systems with internal and external stakeholders.
* Support the supply chain function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
* Raise purchase orders via internal / external requisitions & obtain confirmed delivery dates from suppliers and update system
* Liaise with stakeholders effectively, ensuring all parties are up to speed with the process
* Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
* Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
* Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities
* Prepare reports and updates as and when required
* Work closely with others in the procurement function and review
The successful Buyer will have the following attributes:
* Be able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholders, and suppliers
* Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
* Analytical, numerically astute with strong demonstrated problem-solving abilities
* Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets
* Commercial and financial awareness
* ERP or MRP system experience
* Qualification in business related subject is desired but not essential
* CIPS or similar qualification or studying towards CIPS qualification would be beneficial but not essential
* Previous purchasing experience is essential, preferably within manufacturing or print management
* The ability to create cost saving strategies
