Job Description

The Retail Business Controller provides financial guidance and advice to the senior leadership team to help build a long term, cost efficient and sustainable business. The Business Controller acts as first point of contact for all financial aspects in relation to the retail operations and liaises with relevant Finance Team members to resolve issues and provide guidance

• Provide monthly results in line with company's accounting principles and provide commentary on financials and KPIs against prior year, forecasts and budget for board. Highlight any significant issue.
• Produce annual budget, quarterly forecasts and 5-year strategic plans in conjunction with the Retail leads including commentary on both financials and key drivers.
• Foster relationships with the ecommerce and operational teams at the physical stores, get stuck into the detail behind the financials and provide support to help the teams achieve the best margins and profitability
• Support for evaluation of new opportunities including business plans and investment appraisal. 
• Support the Group Financial Controller in maintaining the compliance environment through provision of timely balance sheet recs.
• Responsible for balance sheet stock reconciliations and investigation of any differences.
• Assist the Finance Team with projects for example any finance system implementations, including P2P and Adaco stock management system.
• Assist with continuous improvement of financial processes to aid accurate and timely reporting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/FCA) with finance business partnering experience preferably within retail sector. 
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present financial and KPI data to non-finance managers.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, with excellent excel skills and accounting software experience. 
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to priorities and organize work to tight deadlines.
