Job Description

We are looking for an individual to provide expert day to day commercial and financial advice to the commercial teams who plan, specify, procure and manage rail contracts.
You will be a finance professional working across one or more of the Train Operating Company (TOC) Contracts reporting to the Rail Commercial Finance Manager. You will be supporting a commercial team, leading on the financial aspects of the commercial management of current contracts and projects including analysis, assessment and forecasting.
Your main responsibilities would be:

• Providing reports and analysis to the Finance Manager to enable review and challenge of the annual business plans, quarterly forecasts and periodic management accounts
• Assessing and analysing the financial position of incumbent operators
• Gaining an understanding of the financial aspects of the contract that underpins the relationship between the train operator and the Department.
• Leading on budgeting and forecasting for the Admin budget
• Providing ad-hoc advice and guidance to the Market Lead, the Rail Commercial Finance Manager and the Commercial Team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience of gathering, analyzing and interpreting commercial and technical information
• Experience of building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Experience of presenting complex financial information to a wide range of audiences
• Rail Industry knowledge
• ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, ICAS or equivalent
