Job Description

Duties:

  • Build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers; with a view to building trust and longstanding collaborative relationships, to achieve company commercial and quality objectives, to explore commercial opportunities and maintain competitiveness.
  • Understand the business inventory management models. Use practical knowledge in conjunction with automated processes for win-win outcomes.
  • Proactive focus on forecasting demand levels and trends within the multiple markets and product families. Prepare and present business impacts against tactical decisions
  • Generate required purchase orders for assigned suppliers.
  • Manage delivery date expectations against supplier order acknowledgements. Drive adherence to promise dates proactively and assertively.
  • Conduct negotiations wherever necessary to gain commercial advantages. Correctly position existing or new product implementations (NPIs / RFQs) to existing/potential suppliers and manage via communication tools or directly with stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of new product lines. Implementing the required inventory levels for launch and start-up support to business divisions or territories.
  • Maintain products on company's ERP system, updating key procurement parameters when required to achieve correct ordering patterns.
  • Proactively monitor Supplier open order status and understand issues as they relate to current or potential backorder product lines. Taking corrective action where necessary to maintain supply: driving suppliers to commit and perform to expected lead-times.
  • Manage supplier related issues and concerns via the NCR process. Co-ordinating the re-working of product when necessary. Share specific concerns or developments with line management and other stakeholders for support or collaborative decision making when required.
  • Liaise with Finance to resolve queries on purchase orders: prices, quantities, goods receipt, delivery, general enquiries, etc.
  • Compliance to all health and safety policies
  • General file maintenance and good housekeeping of supplier files and computer records.
