Job Description

We have an immensely talented employee community, working within an inclusive and diverse culture, and need a confident and motivated Finance Manager to join the team. You will have strong management accounting experience within a project accounting role and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business. You will be robust, used to working to deadlines, detailed but with a bigger picture approach. You’ll be super proactive and enjoy streamlining procedures for efficiency. Your Excel should be Intermediate to Advanced, as you’ll be using Vlookups, HLookups, Pivot tables etc. We’d love you to have Xero. Ideally, you’ll be from engineering, architecture or similar, but any project environment would be of interest! You’ll manage one other individual, so it’s essential that you’re happy to delve into the detail to problem-solve and understand the numbers fully, plus you’ll review your Assistant’s work.

On a daily basis your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the preparation of management financial information, including the annual budgeting and reforecasting exercises, 
  • Prepare full sets of monthly management accounts and related reporting for internal stakeholders whilst ensuring the ongoing development and improvement to systems, controls and ways of working.
  • Oversee the efficient operation of the purchase ledger, sales ledger and cash book etc. 
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual business plan & maintain and adjust the budget model.
  • Prepare forecasts providing comparison of actual to plan / forecasted performance & variance analysis. 
  • Maintain responsibility for cash management including the preparation of weekly cash flow projections.
  • Conduct other tasks as and when required to support the business.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

As well as your prior management accounting experience within a project environment, and the above skills, you’ll also have the following:

  • A hands-on, flexible approach. You’ll enjoy problem-solving and improving processes. 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and either a qualified Accountant, part-qualified or QBE.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and experience and an extremely high attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to work autonomously and consult where appropriate, and a consummate team player. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with competing deadlines, whilst also maintaining a positive and professional approach.
