Job Description

The Finance Manager is accountable to a Business Opportunity Manager for delivery of the full suite of finance activities related to the transaction, including deal structuring to maximize value/minimize risk, due diligence, financial framework and process compliance, corporate approvals, negotiation of finance aspects of the transaction, risk assessment and mitigation, accounting and reporting, tax, treasury, investor relations; execution and value capture note/handoff to transition and integration business finance leads.

We will entrust you to:

  • Act as Finance Deal Lead for material transactions (which could include acquisitions and divestments, asset swaps, joint venture formation or restructuring and commercial agreements for organic projects).
  • Work closely with the Valuation Leads, who have accountability for valuation insights. The Finance Manager retains accountability for providing independent insights and support to the Finance signatory in an opportunity.
  • Co-ordinate across all parts of the Finance organisation to bring all relevant knowledge, expertise, and input to transactions.
  • Interface with a wide range of internal (Commercial, Legal, etc.) and external (Counterparties, Banks, Transaction Service Providers, etc) stakeholders.
  • Act as the single point of entry for 3rd party Financial Advisory/Transaction Service Providers on any given project.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong Financial and M&A exposure, due to the materiality and complexity of the deals that the successful candidate would work on
  • MBA or equivalent degree and/or qualification in a relevant professional field (e.g. CPA, ACA, CIMA, ACT, CFA)
  • Solid valuation expertise, understanding of financial models and ability to interpret and analyze large amounts of data/inputs
  • Relevant experience in one or more of the main Shell business areas, i.e. Upstream, Downstream, Integrated Gas and/or Renewables
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, solid commercial acumen and the ability to operate within a dynamic rapidly changing environment, and manage through ambiguity
  • Ability to establish credibility at the relevant level with management of internal and external project teams
  • Demonstrated track record of leading and/or coaching staff, actively supporting their professional and leadership development; a self-starter and effective team player
  • Practical mindset, bias for action and aspiration for outstanding results in creating and protecting value for Shell
  • Highly curious, and with a broad understanding of the external stakeholders of Shell, and challenges of navigating the energy transition at all levels
