Job Description
You’ll provide key support to the Head of Group Financial Reporting and act as a technical accounting specialist for the business. You’ll stay up to date on accounting standards, advice the commercial teams on the accounting for new projects, prepare relevant accounting policy notes / papers for review by Head of Group Financial Reporting and other ad-hoc financial reporting projects as and when they arise. You’ll also assist the Head of Group Financial Reporting in overseeing the production of the Group’s annual report, interim statement and statutory financial statements for all subsidiaries, as well as working with the Group’s auditor to deliver an efficient audit timetable.
More about the role:
- Assist the Head of Group Financial Reporting in the coordination of the Annual Report and Financial Statements and the Interim Report, including:
- Planning and preparation work and day to day management of the year end process, including liaison with the external auditors to ensure all issues are resolved to satisfactory conclusion
- Drafting of sections of key papers for the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee
- Supporting the co-ordination of the full annual report and accounts, including liaising with Corp Affairs, Company Secretarial and Investor Relations
- Review of the Financial Statements, including all notes to the accounts, ensuring they are up to date, compliant with IFRS and in line with best practice
- Help ensure the business is up to date and prepared for all new IFRS standards, interpretations on a timely basis, and that they are implemented properly
- Provide accounting support to the wider business on ad hoc technical queries, such as providing practical examples and proposing recommended accounting treatment
- Preparation of technical accounting position papers to support the Group’s treatment of large or usual contracts
- Provide support and training on emerging accounting standards, including developing training materials, to finance and non-finance colleagues across the business.
- Business partner to Director of Reward, in particular providing accurate costing and analysis of annual bonus scheme and long term incentive plans.
- Manage the Reward period end process, balance sheets, accounting, accruals, provisions etc.
- Development and coaching of one direct report
