Job Description

The main duties of the post are to:

• Support all employee relation queries and provide detailed advice and guidance

on employee relations activities including staff complaints, capability and

conduct issues, grievance procedures, disciplinary procedures, performance

review monitoring meetings and absence.

• Work closely with the HR Associate to ensure that probations, absences and

changes to contracts are tracked, recorded and processed accordingly and in a

timely fashion. This includes changes to pay with payroll and providing

authorisation forms to the HR Administrators for processing.

• Assist the HRBP in delivering a high quality and professional HR service which

meets the needs of the business and contributes to achieving its strategic aims.

• Take a lead role in embedding the health & wellbeing strategy and provide

advice and guidance on health & wellbeing and be a Mental Health Firstaider.

• Champion safeguarding management through being a Designated Child

Protection Officer and taking appropriate action to safeguard staff, students and

visitors.

• Assist the HRBP in key areas such as change management, organisational

design, employee engagement and talent analytics.

• Be able to comfortably present information effectively to different levels of

seniority.

• Have a good understanding of the many different responsibilities of the HR

function (eg. Learning & Development, reward, compensation & benefits)

• Coach, mentor and offer advice to both your peers and junior employees.

• Work collaboratively with the Director, People & Organisational Development,

HRBP and Talent Acquisition Partner to lead on and deliver strategic HR

initiatives and projects.

• Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of HR trends and changes in policy

that are affecting people at work and make recommendations to the HRBP on

any potential impact and options we need to consider.

• Play an active part in progressing HR through the delivery of focused HR

interventions and projects.

• Operate as a valued and visible Adviser to help achieve the organisation’s

ambitions and objectives.

• Embed and promote the values in all people strategies maintaining the

culture and people engagement.

• Assist the HR department in full compliance with employment legislation, GDPR

and other legislation, regulations and statutory requirements.

• Maintain effective communication with HR colleagues, and colleagues

throughout the college, to ensure an excellent and consistent HR service

provision.

• Embed equality and diversity throughout the role and ensure that relevant

legislation is adhered to.

• Manage safeguarding and promote the safety and welfare of staff, students and

visitors within a safe, fair and respectful work and learning environment.

• Contribute to the ongoing development off the HR function, identifying

and proposing solutions as required.
