Job Description
  • Long-term strategic planning; forensically understanding, monitoring and reporting on technology and associated investments within the business
  • Taking an active role in identifying and developing strategic options and plans, enabling business growth
  • Investment appraisal; building and evaluating business cases for complex and strategic investment opportunities over the next 3-5 years
  • Managing a team of financial analysts
  • Presenting materials to senior executives to support decision making
  • Supporting the Finance Director and Head of FP&A to prepare financial projections, including the impact of new ventures, for the continuation or expansion of business segments
  • Leading quantitative and qualitative analytical work, which unlocks business insights and drives decision-making on key business topics, such as development of business cases for new growth initiatives
  • General involvement in financial planning and analysis; annual budgeting; quarterly reforecasting process; the three-year strategic planning process; providing varying analysis for the Executive Management Team month-end summary

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You will have strong financial and commercial acumen, and significant experience focused around the areas listed above, especially time spent working as a finance business partner and with investment appraisals.

There is a focus on using data to drive insight and decision-making. The role will suit a strategic thinker, familiar with operating with the a 3-5 year business cycle in mind. You will enjoy working with data and the underlying data infrastructure, and it is critical that you are able to translate and present complex concepts in a simple and engaging manner to a wide variety of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Significant commercial finance experience
  • Previous experience of managing a team
  • Understand software and/or technology and the associated complexities around investment analysis
  • Proven experience of change management and systems implementation in relation to accounting systems and processes
  • Excellent accounting discipline complimented by advanced FP&A experience and strategic skills
  • The ability to approach a business from the top and bottom; flexible in transitioning from strategy to operational detail
  • Experience working with large amounts of data and solving large, complex problems
  • An exceptional communicator
  • Demonstrable experience working with and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience working with investment appraisal techniques and presentation of business cases at both project and corporate strategic levels
  • Strong data analytics and presentation skills
  • High degree of integrity; you will have privileged access to sensitive data
  • The ability to collaborate with others
  • Independent problem-solving skills
