Job Description

In this role you will undertake day to day bookkeeping and accounting along with general financial support across the business. You will be working in a busy environment, where you will need to self-manage tasks to ensure you are able to hit deadlines. This role requires someone who is flexible, keen to take on new responsibilities and is willing to help with additional tasks and support as and when necessary.

You'll need experience as the only bookkeeper managing all aspects of small business finance and the ability to take on other matters of administration, insurance, communications etc. Our ideal candidate is familiar and comfortable with Excel reports, Sages accounts & payroll software. You should also have a good knowledge of compliance matters, accountancy procedures and has the ability to research matters when the need arises.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining financial records
  • Posting transactions
  • Bank account reconciliations
  • Managing overdue accounts
  • Recording cash receipts
  • Maintaining petty cash records
  • Reconciliation of company credit cards and inputting into sage.
  • Keeping an annual company budget
  • Filing historical records and maintaining records
  • Handling accounts payable & receivable
  • Managing profit & loss statements
  • Payroll
  • Maintaining company ledgers
  • NEST pension contributions
  • ECPI imports
  • Processing import duty declarations
  • Providing administrative and clerical support as required
  • Additional bookkeeping duties as agreed
  • Analyze and create financial reports for our accountants
  • Managing tax payments, including VAT Returns quarterly.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in an office environment
  • Good with numbers and willingness to learn new skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in data entry and record keeping
  • You will be naturally comfortable and competent around all IT
  • You will need to have a good working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Excel and be confident in their use.
  • A high degree of accuracy, thoroughness and a meticulous attention to detail is a must.
  • Able to work alone
  • A pro-active, “can do” attitude

Experience:

  • Accounting: 1 year (preferred)
  • bookkeeping: 3 years (required)
