Job Description

To work within the team responsible for outsourced bookkeeping and management accounting functions for our clients, preparing figures to trial balance level and helping prepare management accounts and analysis.

Main duties

  • Posting sales/purchase invoices and reconciling sales and purchase ledgers
  • Posting receipts and payments and reconciling bank accounts
  • Preparing and posting month end journals including; accruals, prepayments, deferred income and expenditure and depreciation
  • Input stock movements and reconciling with trial balance figures
  • Posting month end salary information
  • Close down month end reports and year end balances
  • Preparation and submission of clients monthly/quarterly VAT returns
  • Deal with any queries which may arise from clients as primary contact for own portfolio of clients
  • Opportunity to support management of trainees and apprentices

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent and ideally AAT level 4 qualified.
  • Is keen to continue or pursue further accounting qualification, practical experience with similar role.
  • The Ability to assist clients with reporting and queries (previous client practice experience desirable).
  • Experience of preparing and submitting VAT returns.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organized with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Logical and systematic approach.
  • Numerate with strong communication skills.
  • Able to work on own initiative and/or part of a team.
