Job Description
You will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of business and driving the company’s financial strategy and planning, including both finance and tax work. Training will be given on the tax side if needed. The position will be responsible for assessing the company’s financial performance as well as risks and controls. The role will develop over time with support from the Finance Director.
Duties include:
- Working at a senior level within the European and International leadership teams
- Managing a small Finance department, leading the team, offering guidance and support
- Varied accounting role includes 60% finance and 40% tax work
- Ensuring the integrity of reported financial results, improving accounting systems/processes, as well as internal controls
- Ensuring UK & EU VAT/Corporation Tax compliance is adhered to, computed accurately, and remitted on time
- Owning the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, creating the budgeted/forecasted P&L and analyzing the results
- Monitoring performance including pricing and margin analysis
- Cash flow forecasting and management
- Resolving technical accounting issues for compliance
- Completing and overseeing month end activities, including journal entries, financial statement and reconciliations
- Overseeing all statutory audit, tax audit and other year-end operations
- Preparing year-end corporation tax return and liaising with external tax accountant/auditors as required
- Ensuring adherence to European laws and guidelines, statutory reporting requirements
- Reporting to global stakeholders for all financial transactions and activities
- Collaborating across departments to ensure financial information is collated and reported, as well as involvement in strategic conversations within the business
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates will be ACCA qualified (or equivalent), have solid technical ability within accounts and have a real passion for all things finance. You will need to have a flexible and hands-on approach since you will be involved in all aspects of accounting from completing accounts to trial balance, to managing a team and being involved in senior level reporting and tax work for the UK and Europe. This is a role with real scope to develop and take on more senior level work, with the ability to grow and develop your team over time.
