Job Description

You will have 3 to 6 years’ post qualification experience and will support the legal team based in London covering the public investments business. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure our Public Investments strategies span multi-asset, equities and fixed income asset classes. Our legal team is embedded within the Public Investments business and the role will provide you with the opportunity to work closely with distribution, fund operations and investment management teams.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Advising on the manufacture, development and maintenance of separately managed accounts (SMAs) and negotiating investment management agreements;
• Drafting and negotiating distribution agreements, sponsorship and event agreements and advising on marketing documentation and distribution regulations, including MIFID rules, relating to the distribution of Macquarie funds and strategies in EMEA;
• Negotiating investment research agreements;
• Negotiating trading agreements, including derivatives trading agreements, relating to Macquarie Asset Management’s trading activities in EMEA;
• Advising on UK and EU applicable law and regulatory developments;
• The implementation of regulatory projects (including assistance with managing and driving forward the legal aspects of the projects to completion)
• Assisting with developing precedents and contributing to the Legal team’s knowledge management framework.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You will demonstrate strong technical legal skills combined with the ability to take a commercial approach to problem solving including the ability to distil complex regulation and legal issues into practical advice. You will have private practice and/or in-house experience in asset management. As Macquarie Asset Management is a global investment manager, you will be required to work on cross border transactions and demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively.
