Job Description
  • Responsible for driving the Financial Performance of the EMEA region across both operating assets and development & construction projects
  • Responsible for the application of all group accounting standards
  • Responsible for the timely delivery of all forecasts, including budget ensuring all stakeholders are signed on to those forecasts
  • Responsible for financial control across EMEA, and contribution to the overall financial control environment across Lightsource bp
  • Responsible for provision of Business Partnering to senior managers within EMEA, and driving a business partnering culture in EMEA and across the wider team
  • Responsible for developing the team, ensuring every member of the EMEA team has a development plan to support their aspirations
  • Contribute to the leadership of the wider team and finance function role modelling Lightsource bp’s core values (safety, respect, integrity, sustainability, and drive)
  • Oversee the timely and accurate delivery of the management and statutory accounts for all legal entities in a variety of jurisdictions (predominately SPVs structured as such for project financing purposes)
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of financial and non-financial information to support senior management with the insight and data to inform decisions
  • Provide informative interpretation and analysis of activities together with comparatives to budgets / forecasts
  • Ensure all statutory consolidation, sub-consolidation and elimination entries are performed on an accurate and timely basis both under Lightsource bp GAAP and under local statutory requirements.
  • Proactively manage the annual external audit process and filing of statutory financial statements in a timely manner for the relevant legal entities used by the Development business segment within the Region
  • Ensure all indirect tax compliance and filings for the legal entities are completed (e.g., VAT) and provide support on the compilation of corporate tax compliance and filings
  • Work closely across finance and the business to identify opportunities to improve processes and ensure those opportunities are capitalized on
  • Ensure delivery in to Lightsource bp’s Performance Management Framework, including the collation, interpretation, analysis and reporting of organizational key performance indicators
  • Ensure integrity of actual results against local statutory regulations, ensuring the development of and compliance with Lightsource bp and local GAAP
  • Support the Global Finance Director in the roll out of new accounting processes, systems, and protocols across the different countries within the Region
  • Assess the control environment and propose and deliver improvements in the control environment in EMEA
  • Support, endorse and socialize with the Countries all technical accounting interpretation in relation to the Development business segments in line with the Group’s strategic direction
  • Manage third party service providers within the Region and ensure that they perform to the timelines and quality standards imposed on insourced finance functions
  • Lead responses to all external regulatory / statutory queries and surveys (ie audit, tax, regulatory bodies etc.)
  • Support the Global Finance Director on any New Market Entry activities to the extent that it relates to Countries within EMEA
  • Support the Global Finance Director on strategic projects, including ad hoc analysis on all matters finance
  • Business Partner to all senior managers in EMEA region on development projects, build and operation
  • Assist with business cases as necessary and lead financial review of any new projects for financial suitability and sustainability
  • Support divestment activity as required
  • Key contact for all operational finance and commercial issues to support the business within the Region
  • Challenge the organization to ensure delivery of the quarterly key performance indicators, forecast, budget and targets
  • Early engagement and involvement with the business in value creating commercial assessment of activities
  • Together with the team, support cash management activities across EMEA
  • Manage the evolution of a solar project returns from inception to financial close, including challenging the business to mitigate risks as they arise
  • Challenge the organization to ensure focus on cost control and efficiency, including follow up of costs and proactive actions / recommendations to keep costs under control
  • Support the Global Finance Director by role modelling leadership behaviors that drive the team while balancing their wellbeing
  • Ensure that the team all have active development plans that support their aspirations
  • Contribute to the wider team/function ambition of making Lightsource bp a great place to work

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Fully Qualified (ACCA, ACMA, ACA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience that demonstrates a breadth of experience across finance
  • A positive, resilient, and driven individual that partners with business stakeholders to achieve department and overall organization goals
  • A finance leader who delivers through others but with the ability to dig into the detail if required
  • Experience of leading teams, ideally including experience of leading geographically dispersed teams
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environment interfacing with key senior executives on a regular basis
  • Technically sound with a good understanding of international financial and reporting standards
  • Experience in the preparation and interpretation of budgets and forecasts
  • Experience working with complex financing and company structures an advantage
  • Previous experience working for an international, complex business with the ability to apply learning from previous roles to a fast-growing SME
  • Excellent written communication skills with experience of presenting financial information to Executive and Board level stakeholders.

  • Organized with the ability to flex to changing demands
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to distil the key facts for stakeholders
