Job Description

We are looking for an inspirational leader to join us at the Head of Finance level to help shape and embed our new finance service, and ensure the transformation is delivered efficiently and effectively, at speed. We are looking for a motivated individual who can lead by example and help build a sustainable, highly effective service that delivers exceptional support to one of our front line departments.

The role will lead on providing high level financial support to the CYPS department, covering education, social care and youth services. You’ll be the key contact for senior stakeholders including Cabinet Members and Directors. As part of the finance leadership team you’ll work to achieve the following Finance Service objectives;

• To take the lead on financial control to enable financial sustainability, and provide professional counsel and insight as a trusted advisor to front line departments.
• To empower and develop our staff as finance professionals, and create a positive and motivated working environment.
• To champion value for money in both our General Fund and Dedicated Schools Grant, develop opportunities and embed commercial practices, with one eye to the future to embrace innovation and change.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be suitable for this role you need to be a leading finance professional, with excellent communication skills and proven management experience, including driving through change to services and teams. A track record in effective stakeholder management is also essential, as is experience of working with demand led or education services.
