Job Description
  • Lead or support the activities of the New Business team through the various stages of a project including business development and viability analysis, financial/residual land appraisals, pre-qualification, bid/offer preparation and submission, commercial and financial negotiations, preferred bidder, financial close, and subsequent activities
  • Be able to build and amend financial appraisals in the property sector and infrastructure models using Excel
  • Participate in the financial and commercial structuring of projects either as part of a bid, subsequent refinancing, project acquisition or disposal
  • Selection and managing funders and project advisers
  • Analyze and assess project, commercial and residual equity risks in a project
  • Examine and review financial appraisals and/or models developed internally or by external financial advisors
  • Provide and/or support accounting and tax analysis and work with accounting and tax advisers as required
  • Perform sensitivity analysis or review sensitivity results from financial models
  • Support the compilation of Board approval papers for Balfour Beatty Investments and Balfour Beatty Group Approvals

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We are looking for a proactive, numerically and commercially strong candidate to join one of the leading infrastructure and student accommodation investors in the UK. The successful candidate will work within the New Business Team with a primary focus on property and infrastructure projects including student accommodation and build to rent.

Candidates should have prior experience of working in the property/real estate sector with experience of either student accommodation schemes or build to rent projects. The role will be varied and require the successful candidate to provide analytical, commercial, financial modelling, financial structuring, and commercial and bidding support on these projects.

The candidate should have excellent Excel skills as well as a strong understanding of real estate/property assumptions that drive a residual land appraisal and a long-term investment in assets in the above sectors. BBI currently have a number of schemes in the PBSA and BTR sectors under development or in the pipeline.

The successful candidate will also get an opportunity to be involved in some green energy projects in due course but their primary focus will be real estate, in particular student accommodation and build to rent housing.
