Job Description

Accurate processing and payment of invoices and assisting with month end and year end close processes in accordance with the timetable and procedures set out by the Purchase Ledger and Senior Finance Manager.

  • Reviewing invoices received to ensure validity.
  • Ensure all invoices are entered on to the Soprano purchase ledger system daily as per departmental deadlines.
  • Match invoices with PO’s for processing approval and payment.
  • Ensure all invoices are correctly authorised per the Financial Regulations.
  • Manage weekly Bacs and cheque payment runs and Development activities.
  • Liaise with Treasury to ensure sufficient funds are made available to make payments.
  • Handle telephone and email queries from suppliers promptly.
  • Process urgent payments via RBS Bankline and Barclays.net and ensure all control checks are undertaken prior to loading.
  • Manage payments team email box to ensure correct distribution of emails and post received in the department.
  • Assist with the month end and year end close processes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • IT literate
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Some previous experience in a purchase ledger department
  • Effective and professional communication skills
  • Qualified AAT or progression towards completion would is desirable
