Job Description
  • Developing and presenting financial findings and analysis at DfT board level meetings and approval committees
  • Supporting the development of the financial elements of the Request for Proposal/Invitation to Tender for new contracts, ensuring the commercial proposition is accurately reflected at the various stages of the Transport Business Case
  • Leading on developing an effective dialogue with counterparts at Rail Operators to ensure that affordability issues are identified and addressed at an early stage.
  • Also, communicated with internal stakeholders to ensure that any Treasury concerns are handled effectively
  • Leading on financial aspects in the commercial management of current rail contracts and projects including analysis, assessment and forecasting
  • Developing, modelling, supporting, and contributing to the long-term forecasting of rail contracts and related projects across the Rail portfolio
  • Line management responsibility for one Assistant Finance Manager

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • You will be a fully qualified financial professional with a CCAB, CIMA or IFAC equivalent and have experience and knowledge of the finance sector.
  • You will have a high attention to detail and experience of collecting, analyzing and interpreting commercial and technical information, and presenting results in a meaningful way to a range of audiences.
  • You will have a broad understanding of key financial metrics to apply accurate assessment and forecasting.
  • You will be an engaging leader with excellent interpersonal skills to forge positive relationships within and outside of the Department.
  • You will be fully qualified with CCAB, CIMA or IFAC equivalent, and you will need to provide evidence that you meet this criteria during the application process.
  • Experience and knowledge of the finance sector
  • Experience of building and establishing collaborative relationships with a range of senior partners
  • Experience of gathering, analyzing and interpreting commercial and technical information and presenting complex financial information to a broad range of audiences
