Job Description
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for a geographically dispersed accounting and reporting team.
  • Supervise and performance manage team members, providing professional guidance and advice to support decision-making and personal development. Manage recruitment and training of new team hires in conjunction with HR administration and talent acquisition teams.
  • Take ownership of the monthly and annual close process for the division, ensuring timely performance against objectives and accuracy and reliability of reported financials.
  • Establish, implement and monitor accounting practices, processes and controls to support a robust governance environment and to provide assurance to senior stakeholders.
  • Work with colleagues and advisers to support continuous improvement in control processes.
  • Build, manage and maintain strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external) ensuring key objectives are met.
  • Coordinate activities of regional teams, dedicated tax professionals and external advisors to ensure applicable compliance responsibilities are met, including preparation, review and filing of statutory accounts and tax returns.
  • Coordinate annual audit process in partnership with external auditors and regional teams.
  • Monitor global transfer pricing arrangements ensuring statutory results are consistent with legal agreements and agreements are consistent with best practice.
  • Manage international corporate and indirect tax processes and controls in conjunction with tax colleagues to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting, reconciliation of tax accounts and mitigation of tax risks.
  • Oversee relationships with outsource vendors to ensure accounting entries, account reconciliations and general ledger analyses are performed according to agreed timetables.
  • Support cost control and cost management behaviors promoting good financial discipline.
  • Manage spend approval escalations within agreed thresholds.
  • Work with central process owners and regional teams to effect changes to master data in support of new business activities and to facilitate more streamlined reporting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • We are looking for an individual possessing extensive finance/accounting experience.
  • You’ll be an excellent people manager and stakeholder partner, with exceptional attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • You will have working knowledge of accounting standards, in particular IFRS, and will have previous audit experience.
  • We’re looking for someone with previous controllership and/or technical accounting experience, with strong knowledge of close processes, reporting, reconciliations and compliance obligations.
  • You’ll be familiar with internal controls best practices.
  • The right person will possess a mindset that is intellectually curious and motivated to bring about improvements.
  • You’ll have experience working with international colleagues and/or a geographically dispersed team, and will have experience working in a multi-currency environment.
  • Experience working in the media industry would be preferable but not essential.
