Job Description

You’ll lead the finance team to produce monthly management accounts and deliver detailed forecasts, budgets and monthly variance analysis. Deliver clear reporting and commentary to senior management to support financial decision making. Provide challenge and support to the management team to help implement cost control and revenue generation initiatives across the business.

  • Facilitate the production of regular forecasts and maintain risks and opps schedules to keep management and group appraised of brand financial performance
  • Produce annual budget and 3 year plan to provide guidance on the future profitability of the business
  • Critically review and appraise business case decisions to ensure they deliver an acceptable return on investment and payback period
  • Drive profitability improvement by challenging business efficiency, evaluating opportunities to reduce spend and identifying commercial opportunities
  • Prepare financial scenarios and other ad hoc analysis as required
  • Communicate financial reporting and analysis in a clear and succinct way, tailored for relevant audiences, both finance and non-finance
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis and insightful commentary against budget, forecast and prior year for both businesses
  • Manage the audit process for Travel bag and work closely with the Reporting and Control to deliver requirements for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure standardized balance sheets are robustly maintained and all risks and opportunities flagged on a timely basis and reported
  • Ensure that Travel bag adhere to the policies and procedures as set out in the Group Companies Financial Reporting Manual
  • Support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts, ensuring that they reconcile back to the annual management accounts
  • Work with the Reporting and Control and Commercial to embed a robust control environment and to promote a risk aware culture across the business
  • Play an integral role within the management teams, providing input on a range of business issues
  • Establish a culture of learning and continuous improvement across the finance team, challenge the status quo and look for ways to do things better and more efficiently
  • Provide leadership, individual and team development, instilling and driving a performance culture
  • Manage and motivate direct reports to achieve the team goals and support individual career progression

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High amount of experience in financial roles, ideally with a travel industry background.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and financial control frameworks
  • Strategic thinker with ability to visualize opportunities and improve business processes
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality management information
  • Knowledge of the travel industry regulatory rules and environment
  • Leadership capabilities with excellent influence and negotiating skills
  • Numerate and analytical thinker, self-motivated and solution orientated
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify opportunities to improve revenue and profits
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable with communicating at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills
  • Able to work in a team environment and autonomously
