Job Description

The Financial Controller will assume the role as expert on matters regarding formal accounting, e.g. cooperation with and reporting to authorities, they will coordinate with external providers tax and ensure the accounting for tax / payroll is accurate and completed on time. Furthermore, the Controller will assist in driving compliance with Harman systems and regulations across EMEA. The Financial Controller will assume joint responsibility for the statutory reports and for consolidating and reporting information for the European region. Specific areas will include the following, but exclusively:

• Leading on annual statutory accounts and audits
• Statutory regulatory reporting
• Tax – VAT and Corporation tax returns and calculations with external consultants
• Transfer pricing administration activities
• Financial reporting including detailed variance analysis
• Financial controlling of key focus areas (net working capital, debtors, stock etc)
• Ensuring an adequate internal control environment exists to meet the requirements of the business and Harman Internal audit (i.e. compliance with SOX)
• Coordination/Point of contact for statutory audit/Internal audit.
• Balance sheet reviews and analysis.
• Project activities and functions to support business performance.
• Relationship management with external advisors and auditors in all areas relating to Statutory accounting / tax and compliance.
• Yearend support – prep of supporting documentation for annual audit for PRO.
• Coordination of VAT reporting for our European entities
• Controller role AP, (reviewing coding and approvers)
• Reporting to national statistics office
• Reporting to national bank
• Balance sheet analytical reviews 
• Reporting and detailed analysis
• Preparation of monthly reports
• Controlling of investments in tangible fixed assets
• Supporting annual budget process for EMEA Pro organization
• Documentation of SOX Controls
• Ad hoc issues (resolving VAT issue, stat audit work, etc.)

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Qualified accountant
• 5-10 of years of experience working as an auditor and or finance/accounting. 
• English fluent in speech and writing
• Solid working experience with internal as well as external accounts.
• Experience of European accounting and taxation requirements.
• Previous working experience with Business Intelligence systems.
• Willingness to travel to European working sites as needed
• A background with a major accounting firm
• Degree in Business (MBA) or Accounting
• Fluency in another European language
• Previous experience with SAP and running of detailed reports
• Willingness to travel occasionally
