Financial Controller

Job Description

Ideally from a practice background you may be taking your first steps into a commercial industry. There will be 3 key deliverables:

  • You will assist the Finance Director and Finance Controller in preparing, consolidating & analyzing the medium to long term financial & strategic plan of the organization.
  • Supported by a team of 6 you will manage the reporting & insight into the company’s commercial performance
  • Ownership of the company budgeting & forecast process

Working closely with other parts of the finance team along with the wider organization you will be responsible for analysis the impacts of operational & financial decisions and their longer term impacts along with presenting potential scenarios to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership, modelling and preparation of the organizations medium to longer term financial & strategic plan including management and statutory statements (Income statement, Balance sheet & Cash flow)
  • Ownership of the company valuation model
  • Analysis of both management & statutory financial information creating forward looking projections.
  • Price, volume and efficiency projections including tracking and outcome reporting.
  • Preparing scenario based decision proposals to inform the senior management decision making process
  • Working with the wider finance organization to understand and model short to medium term of strategic projects
  • Preparing competitor analysis, market trends and associated commentary to senior management
  • Evaluating the company’s current assets and investments and future requirements to meet the companies demand.
  • Manage the delivery of the monthly reporting required to group stakeholders namely: Monthly board reports, KPI documents etc.
  • Manage the ongoing financial performance of the commercial contracts that GBRf has with its customers
  • Reviewing & ensuring that any tenders or submissions for new business meet the financial criteria required by the business
  • Ad-hoc analysis when required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Able to influence all levels of Stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to communicate & influence non-financial decision makers
  • Advance excel & modelling skills
  • Technically and up to date competent accountant
  • Highly organized, methodical, able to multi-task successfully and work on your own initiative
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA of CFA qualified=
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Navision or Business Central Finance System
  • Previous experience working within the rail freight industry
  • Big 4 / 5 experience
