Job Description

You are a key member of the new DC build project team with responsibility for the end to end sourcing and successful implementation of sourcing strategies. The role requires effective and positive relationships with internal partners as well as with key industry leaders to align the best of our leading European Logistics Campus (ELC) processes with the latest in warehouse process innovation and design.
You will be responsible for the procurement and cross functional coordination of a wide variety of sourcing features linked to the start up of a new DC. This in line with the EMEA procurement category strategies. Procurement activities entails amongst others all Consumables and all Indirect categories in Europe (such as logistics, warehousing, energy/utilities, marketing, temp labor, MRO, CAPEX, lease fleets, etc.).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create and implement innovative & cost effective local procurement strategies that incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within the industry
  • Lead and develop key supplier relationships and integrate supplier expertise as appropriate to meet business strategy and deliver cost, timelines & process improvements
  • Handle critical issues and support the business navigate through the existing supply chain shortages
  • Negotiate, align, and implement critical supply contracts, all in line with regional sourcing strategies with a focus on risk management
  • Continuously extend understanding of current and potential suppliers, market structure, commodity forecasts, competitive dynamics, trends and demand management levers
  • Build, implement and/or participate in Requests for Proposals (RFPs) processes, bid evaluation and other analytical models with transparency on cost drivers in collaboration with the internal partners
  • Support, monitor, evaluate, and mentor the local Site team members while ensuring policies and procedures regarding compliance, commitments, early involvement, supplier selection, supplier evaluation, and supplier development related to the category are understood, and implemented.
  • Leading and/or participating in workshops in the different project phases (conceptual and functional design, implementation, debut, post launch support) where both good integration between the different projects, and the required quality is meticulously guaranteed.
  • Evaluate & track performance metrics within the existing pool of suppliers

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in CAPEX/ OPEX categories with an automation & innovation focus
  • Ability to run end-to-end Procurement projects
  • Proven Procurement and/or Strategic sourcing experience, spend responsibilities of more than $20 Million USD.
  • A track record of influencing organizations towards data driven process & decision making and creating a culture of ownership and innovation.
  • A great communicator, able to convey your thoughts, ideas and opinions clearly and concisely face-to-face or virtually to all levels up and down stream.
  • Proven ability to work in a large, matrixed organization, successfully influencing others and building collaborative partnerships to deliver large scale cross-functional projects.
  • A high-performance mentality: bias for action, drive for results while demonstrating positive attitude and enthusiasm and comfortable managing ambiguity!
