Job Description

This role will also support other activities within Investment Risk and Global Risk as required based on business initiatives and will be expected to work effectively as part of a matrix organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Writing comprehensive risk reports covering investment risk topics and other risk types, including their mitigation, for the Board of Directors for each Investment Trust, considering their preferences and requirements.
  • Provide each Board on an annual basis a list of emerging risks and uncertainties.
  • Present risk reports on behalf of the CRO to the Investment Trust Boards at each of its Audit Committee meetings, handle any questions from the boards on any risk topics and follow up on actions.
  • Conduct Thematic Reviews on areas of interest to the Investment Trust Boards, throughout the whole lifecycle including research, analysis, documentation, action management.
  • Maintain Risk Management Policy Documents for each Investment Trust in conjunction with colleagues across Investment Risk Oversight to ensure alignment with our policies.
  • Oversight of risk reporting for the investment trust annual reports when requested.
  • Meet with Audit Chairs and the Investment Trusts external auditors during the audit cycle to provide reassurance of risk management and the control environment, if requested.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Investment Trust team and the relevant Portfolio Managers to keep up to date on activity within the function and understand how risk is being managed within each portfolio.
  • Provide Risk input on any new product development initiatives, new business activities, and regulatory change relevant to the Investment Trust business.
  • Assist colleagues across Investment Risk Oversight and Global Risk with the delivery of broader programmes, goals, and objectives

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven risk experience ideally gained within Asset Management or Investment Bank with a good understanding of key investment risk topics.
  • Experienced presenter with the necessary gravitas to present on behalf of Fidelity to external stakeholders and board members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with stakeholders and senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution focused mindset.
  • Dedicated to maintaining high standards including attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently, within limited management supervision and to tight deadlines.
