Job Description

You will be responsible for ensuring the core month end reporting function/team delivers accurate and timely financial information to senior managers up to CFO.  Depending on the team, most of our roles offer flexible working.

  • Leading a large team through the end-to-end production of management accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Making sure the processes and accounting methods used within the team are appropriate, accurate and efficient.
  • Coaching team members and promoting a culture of responsibility and trust, by ensuring the team perform as one unit and no one person is overburdened.
  • Ensuring methods of working and the control framework between Metro Bank and other entities are aligned.
  • Working with other suppliers of information, such as Accounts Payable, to safeguard that the quality of financial information being fed into the general ledger is accurate and appropriate.
  • Bridging between pure accounting principles and commercial interpretation of financials, to drive a strong working relationship between FP&A and Financial Control.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You will collaborate closely with the technical accounting team, to aid in the production of statutory accounts (primary statements and supporting notes). Strong accounting knowledge and/or experience is key, as the role requires independent thought and application of relevant accounting standards to ensure both internal and external auditors are able to sign off the group accounts.

  • Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders
  • In order to hit the ground running, you will have strong understanding of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, for analyzing data and preparing reporting packs.
  • Naturally, you will need previous experience producing management and statutory accounts.
  • To be successful in this role, you will need the ability to deal with ambiguity, develop recommendations and drive solutions proactively and autonomously.
  • You will need to be able to manage complex processes with multiple stakeholders.
  • We need you to proactively identify inefficiencies in processes and provide solutions.
  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent.
