Job Description
Preparation/review of month-end journals e.g. accruals/prepayments, commissions, provisions etc.
Review bank reconciliations throughout the month ensuring all queries are resolved for month end.
Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations including follow up of open items to ensure correctly dealt with on a timely basis.
Preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
Management of year end audit process ensuring key deliverables are available on time and liaising with the external audit team with query resolution.
Run and maintain models to assess suitability of provisions held for claw back of insurance income.
Prepare the monthly Board pack for company.
Review and approval of weekly supplier payments and employee expense runs.
Review and approval of monthly payroll.
Approve adhoc payments via online banking and send payment files to bacs.
Providing financial support by working closely with colleagues and MI to ensure associated KPIs are accurate and are used by the teams as a management tool.
Work with stakeholders to suggest and follow up on revenue generating and cost saving ideas in line with key strategies for the business unit.
Opportunity to manage the Assistant Management Accountant.
Identifying best practice and ensuring consistent processes are in place and are streamlined.
Share observations with the team to ensure we continue to uphold a robust controls environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate will be ambitious, with the drive to succeed and deliver change in an exciting and challenging environment.
You will need to be a confident communicator, prepared to engage with and influence senior management and the operational heads in the business unit.
You will be required to critically assess information, communicate problem solving ideas and process improvements to our management team in a straightforward manner.
The role is suitable for someone that is newly qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
Ideally you will have 2 years financial and management accounting experience.
Strong numerical and analytical skills, including experience of interpreting financial data and determining trends.
You will be hard working and be willing and able to work flexible hours if and when necessary.
