Job Description

You'll join a dynamic and highly motivated team focused on managing, analyzing and processing royalties using systematic tools to actualize royalty revenue - following the process through to manage Collections and outstanding AR, minimizing debt exposure for our Non-CP business, including Content/Streaming, Live Events & Gaming.

  • Review Licensing deal terms for compliance with system, interpreting complex payment structures which tie to 3rd party participation payments.
  • Approve and issue invoices to customers, uploading to licensee portals/websites when required.
  • Follow up with customer for missing royalty statements.
  • Create accounts on 3rd party platforms to download reporting when required.
  • Analyze reporting received from partners, manipulate raw data to map against Mattel’s system (Rights Logic & Oracle) to transfer onto templates ready for validation and posting to our system.
  • Validate royalty statements against agreement terms, upload and post to system to actualize royalty revenue, issuing royalty overage and invoices when applicable.
  • Manage International outstanding AR portfolio for designated Line of Business ensuring records kept up to date with chasing activities.
  • Follow up with licensees for payments.
  • Partner with Commercial and Legal teams, leading meetings when appropriate for query resolution when licensees in default of reporting and paying in alignment with agreement terms.
  • Manage Mattel’s risk of bad debt and complete write off activities when applicable.
  • Negotiate and approve payment plan agreements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Complete weekly cash forecasting.
  • Complete Credit/BIX checks, analyze findings to make decisions on new deal approvals/amendments to existing deal approvals.
  • Partner with Cash-Applications teams to ensure multi-currency cash receipts offset accurately including deductions of expenses and/or bank charges/on account cash kept to a minimum.
  • Calculate and provide Inter-Company cash application instructions when cash received to be split between different Mattel Divisions.
  • Provide ongoing support to internal teams by troubleshooting issues, identifying and implementing long-term solutions, and short-term resolutions if necessary.
  • Build reports to support business needs.
  • Manage workload using Helpdesk tool.
  • Manage Projects including: Training Licensees on loading statements to Extranet tool, Collate and validate data to be used to implement and enhance system tools available to improve processes, Clean-up of old uncollectible AR/on account cash, Mapping Content Titles on Mattel’s systems to match reporting downloaded from 3rd party platforms.
  • Partner with colleagues/licensors (adjusting to time zones when required).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Business or Finance related experience, developed in a MNC environment working within a finance department
  • Demonstrable experience working in a fast-paced environment with focus on detail-orientated work and managing conflicting priorities
  • Experience analyzing and manipulating large, complex, raw data in Excel to build reporting
  • Understanding of administrative and accounting Billing and Collections processes
  • Exposure to licensing highly advantageous
  • Proactive mindset with ability to provide creative solutions to complex problems
  • Willingness to take responsibility and drive process improvements (willingness to challenge the status-quo)
  • Team player with a one team mentality
  • Detail-orientated with an ability to see the big picture, multitask and work on cross-divisional projects with many stakeholders
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Tableau experience advantageous.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently, planning timelines to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
