Job Description

You will be the senior finance manager and trusted business partner to the Campus Development department. You will lead the overall finance oversight of the commercial property portfolio and financial processes, ensuring excellence in control and planning of expenditure, providing financial advice and insight, and driving financially sound decision making and future planning.
What will you be responsible for?

  • Ensuring that the department is in full compliance with relevant finance standards, contractual or grant terms and is understanding of the complexities of a changing funding requirement so that related external reporting requirements are met.
  • It will deliver the core financial processes accurately and on time, budgeting, long term planning, forecasting and period closure.
  • As financial lead for all matters property related, you will support the Campus Development Department to manage an existing portfolio of construction projects, commercial tenancies, a joint venture and an extensive development agenda including 3rd party financing and management.
  • The development agenda includes large capital investments in new site facilities, working in partnership with the project team to ensure excellence in financial management.
  • You will lead on cross team initiatives and best practice sharing, which will typically be focused on strengthening the role of business partnering and on continuous improvement of processes and systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Fully qualified accountant, with significant post qualification experience in a senior role. Ideally with extensive experience as a business partner, dealing with property and capital projects, complex financial reporting arrangements including Joint Ventures.
  • Highly motivated individual with capability to lead & develop direct reports and wider community.
  • Ability to establish strong working rapport with internal and external customers representing a variety of professional disciplines.
  • Experience of working with and advising programme leadership teams.
  • Highly accountable and focused on delivery.
  • Highly proficient in Excel.
  • Experience of an ERP accounting system; experience of using Unit 4 (Agresso) would be an advantage.
  • Able to work on occasion to challenging timescales while still ensuring accuracy.
