Job Description
  • You will be expected to help with day-to-day bookkeeping for clients that involves recording their transactions, bank reconciliation, balancing books and maintaining an up-to-date payroll, whether this is monthly or weekly.
  • You will be assisting with VAT returns using both Microsoft Excel and Accountancy software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero). Alongside this, you will be expected to assist with office and organizational duties allied to the role. This is a client-facing role requiring you to interact with clients, over telephone and email.
  • Good communication skills and literary fluency are crucial for this role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Previous experience of working in bookkeeping practice, dealing with multiple clients (minimum of working for two years in a similar role)

  • Experience in Microsoft excel and word
  • Experience in computerized financial accounting software e.g., Xero, Quickbooks
  • Good numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail - especially when working with spreadsheets and software
  • Previous experience of working in an accounting or bookkeeping practice, dealing with multiple clients
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Problem solving skills and able to work unsupervised using own initiative
  • Ability to priorities, plan and organize work
  • AAT, CIMA or ACCA qualified or part qualified
  • Bookkeeping to trial balance (management accounts experience desirable)
  • Ability to keep financial records and prepare routine financial reports
