Job Description

Your responsibilities can range from managing day-to-day finances to advising on international business structures with cross-border tax issues. There is a great opportunity to expand the practice through client referrals.

• Manage the affairs of a small number of clients
• Work directly with the Senior Manager and Director
• To prepare when needed and review Financial Statements, VAT returns, management accounts and other documents.
• The role requires a large amount of client interaction, and you will be required to speak to clients daily in the office and at their premises
• Ensure you understand what the clients' principal activities and jobs are (e.g. for a company, what services they provide)
• E-mailing clients for information where necessary
• Build relationships with clients
• Assist clients with ad hoc questions in relation to financial matters including the interpretation of results
• Assist clients on the setting up and development of internal systems and controls, including implementing suitable accounting software
• Able to relay with confidence knowledge on tax and other affairs to reassure clients
• Train more junior members of the team on accounts software and other processes necessary for the role
• Prepare some book-keeping as required (mainly done by more junior members of the team, but some specific clients will require full-service provision from one team member)
• Prepare records up to trial balance level from client records using MS Excel or book-keeping software (Sage, QuickBooks, Xero etc.)
• Prepare regular management accounts for review from a Senior Manager (with aim of reviewing this themselves once confidence has been gained with the client's reporting)
• Review of VAT Returns (on the basis you have a good understanding of the VAT rules)
• Promote the firm and identify opportunities for obtaining new business
• Actively support the Partners with marketing and business development

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Have a professional qualification (ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
• Previous accounts management experience gained in a UK accountancy practice is required
• Committed to maintaining their technical knowledge to a high level
• Good understanding of accountancy software packages and other accounting solutions
• Have a good awareness of technology in general
• Competent using MS Office Word and Excel
• Self-motivated and able to apply relevant skills to new scenarios
• Good people and communication skills
