Job Description

This is a Hybrid role with 2 days based in the amazing Hatfield head office and 3 days remotely working from home!

This role provides a key interface between the reporting requirements of users and the developers of the technical solution, as well as developing reports in their own right. You will work with stakeholders across both Finance and the business to provide a high quality and consistent service that meets the reporting requirements of the growing global client business

What will you be doing?

  • Engaging with users to understand their reporting requirements, including anticipated future needs
  • Where development is required, ensuring that design & content requirements are properly captured
  • Creating functional specifications in collaboration with business users, and working with the development team to validate requirements, define the solution, and oversee delivery of reports
  • Working with Process Design leads to ensure that reporting is consistent with approved business processes
  • Supporting users to ensure new or modified reports are tested and signed off with all relevant documentation signed off
  • Carrying out impact assessment on reports relating to changes in chart of accounts, enterprise structure or other changes
  • Delivery of reports using Smart view / OTBI / FRS & providing a backup user support service for ad hoc Smart view enquiries
  • Carrying out complimentary analytical tasks such as reviewing data capability and data quality
  • Providing advice and training to the Finance community and business users on driving best practice
  • Report insights through effective use of tools, standardization, templates, formats and visualization
  • Contributing to the long term ‘roadmap’ for the evolution of a flexible & scalable reporting solution.
  • Work with users and the team to define priorities and assist in the delivery of the agreed items
  • Contributing to the overall governance standards for company reporting

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • You will be progressing your career in Finance (Part qualified or fully qualified accountant), with a desire to develop and have strong SQL skills
  • Have an excellent appreciation of data and data structures, including the chart of accounts
  • A working knowledge of the capability of the Oracle reporting tools is essential.
  • Advanced Excel and good working knowledge of Smart view and Knowledge of finance processes, and how the company design reflects these processes
  • Have an understanding of financial statements and reports including Management and Statutory Accounts, P&Ls, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Statements.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders at all levels across the business, delivering with quality but at pace and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent Verbal and Written communication skills and be highly numerate and analytical
  • Ability to communicate highly effectively with finance stakeholders of different levels, and other business stakeholders, flexing style accordingly
  • A strong understanding of reporting needs from a user perspective
  • Ability to connect data, process and reporting components
  • An independent self-starter, who demonstrates personal ownership for packets of work
  • Experience working within a finance environment, delivering to deadlines with quality but at pace
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both finance users and technical experts, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to build trusted relationships within finance & with other stakeholders
  • Can make sense of ambiguity & apply a critical eye to a situation
  • Able to identify improvement opportunities
  • Adaptable to change and demonstrates a positive mindset
