Financial Accountant

Job Description
- Prepare monthly management accounts with detailed commercial analysis
- Support the Financial Controller through managing the day to day smooth running of financial transactions, group reporting and assisting with implementation and maintenance of financial controls
- Responsible for all aspects of the profit and loss (including analysis and commentary)
- Preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly and year end Group reporting packs
- Ensure overspends are flagged to budget holders
- Preparation of monthly rolling balance sheet, and cash flow
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and review those prepared by Assistant Management Accountant
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled with supporting schedules on file
- Ensure review points are minimized and proactively escalate where necessary
- Review and approval of mid-month and end of month payment runs
- Assist with budgeting and reforecasting with a focus on costs
- Responsible for day to day management of cash balances and cash flow forecasting and analysis
- Preparation of VAT returns including implementation of appropriate controls to ensure accuracy of reporting and ensuring VAT payments are made in line with scheduled dates and adequate controls are in place
- Preparation of Corporation Tax including implementation of appropriate controls to ensure accuracy of reporting and ensuring payments are made in line with scheduled dates and adequate controls are in place
- Preparation, submission and payment
- Responsible for Creative Agency rebate reporting
- Manage payroll payment and control account reconciliations
- Implement and manage controls over assets to ensure existence and accuracy of balances held
- Responsible for unbilled media reporting and recognition in line with accounting policy
- Responsible for the annual review and renewal of insurance policies
- Lead cost control practices including evaluation of current providers to ensure value for money
- Educate the business on key financial processes, procedures and metrics
- Assist with ad hoc projects and provide commercial support to Financial Controller and Finance Director
- Providing support to the Assistant Management Accountant and carrying out annual appraisal
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ideally you will be ACCA / CIMA Part-qualified with previous experience working as a Senior Management Accountant / Financial Accountant along with previous experience of managing a team or a junior Accountant
- You will also need advanced excel skills (ability to work with lookups and pivot tables) with a flare for numbers and strong analytical skills
- Previous experience of Media Ocean is also essential
