Job Description

The Deputy Group Finance Director is responsible for supporting the Chief Finance Officer in the strategic and operational leadership of a portfolio of finance activities University-wide, as well as in the delivery of the university’s financial strategy and in the optimal generation and the use of the university’s resources. The Deputy Group Finance Director will provide visible leadership, direction and management to finance staff in the day to day running of the division and will deputies for the Chief Finance Officer both in their absence and as a delegated professional in allocated areas of responsibility.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Professionally qualified accountant
• Demonstrable leadership success at a senior level
• Significant strategic and operational management experience gained in large and complex customer centric organizations
• In depth experience in a strategic finance role in a complex organization.
• A broad financial skill set including financial reporting and accounting, financial controlling, financial planning and analysis, commercial business partnering, tax and treasury.
• A strategic thinker with the ability to drive and support the organization in the delivery of its business whilst using a range of influencing strategies to bring about change, performance improvement and modernization as required.
• Proven track record of leadership and management of staff.
• A strong commitment to leading a diverse and inclusive finance division
