Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Manager to provide financial and non-financial information and analysis to enable the EMEA business to make appropriate and effective commercial decisions, ensuring that effective reporting and controls are in place to support a diversified and substantial business.

You will manage the team's relationship with outsource vendor. This is an important role with responsibility for financial controls and oversight of regional compliance responsibilities such as stat accounts.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis and interpretation of the business area results, using monthly reporting packs to support the business to deliver the results.
  • Establish and maintain a strong financial control and reporting environment, complying with Accounting Policies, IFRS, and where applicable local GAAP to ensure business risks are minimized and continually looking for opportunities to improve processes and controls to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Review and manage the business area cash flow to report on variances and work with the Treasury function and business units to constantly refine and improve cash flow reporting.
  • Review all balance sheet accounts, working with business area, central Finance functions and IT, provide support and direction to ensure transactions are understood and correctly recorded with monthly reconciliations, and that the balance sheet is in line with IFRS and where applicable local GAAP.
  • Support department improvement projects as required (e.g. roll-out of Intelligent Workflow) to improve processes across the team.
  • Support and act as a key point of information during the annual audit process to deliver the required information for sign off of results.
  • Support preparation of the statutory accounts, tax and VAT returns for the UK and overseas based subsidiaries and act as key point of contact for external accountants, to ensure all statutory filing timelines are met.
  • Manage relations and outputs of finance staff performing EMEA tasks, establishing effective ways of working and a robust controls framework, and supporting the BPO process more generally.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • We’re looking for an individual with strong technical accounting skills and controls experience.
  • A proven track record in commercial finance is essential in a management accounting environment.
  • You will possess a high level of organizational ability, with analytical and financial modelling skills, adept with Excel and ideally SAP / BW.
  • The right person will be able to influence & network, will possess commercial acumen and will be a proactive, self-starter.
  • Communication and presentation skills are essential, you’ll possess the ability to communicate complex accounting rules to non-accountants.
  • We’re looking for someone who can showcase leadership skills, and can take a collaborative approach working with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • You’ll possess a global mindset: thinking and acting for both local and global needs.
  • Preferably, you’ll possess a professional qualification in accountancy (preferably ACA or CIMA) and able to demonstrate experience PQE.
  • It is desirable that you have Media sector and consumer facing business experience, and ideally have experience of working in a global organization with regional / multi-site finance teams.
  • You’ll possess strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (including pivot tables).
