Job Description

You will have responsibility to support the Commercial business in steering and influencing decisions to meet company strategic targets. The primary function of the Business Controller role is to work with Heads of Departments and Departmental Managers to maximize the performance of their business areas by providing the stakeholders with insight; aiding decision-making processes; and supporting the organization; ensuring the correct balance between control and support

You will ideally be commercially aware, a part-qualified accountant and previously worked in a business partner environment preferably within Automotive or Financial Services

What you will be responsible for…

  • Negotiate and influence senior stakeholders to aid, propose and produce accurate forecasting data and associated rationale, used to model and implement plan of sales, mix and margin across all VWFS products (including Planning Rounds, Budgets and monthly reforecasts)
  • Present proposals to senior management for final approval and submission of Forecasting and Planning Rounds (PR)
  • Develop and maintain price modelling infrastructure for Retailer Term Evaluation (RTE), Campaign, Wholesale and Bank products including training, rollout and monitoring of outputs whilst ensuring impact on budget is understood
  • Monthly Finance Reviews to drive revenue and identify cost optimization to ensure sustainable profitability
  • Profit and Loss (P&L) Review and understanding of cost and revenue drivers
  • Act as a trusted and active Business Partner through challenging and constructive conversations.
  • Be a visible contributor and part of extended team
  • Tighten business performance through efficient business plan reviews
  • Develop and implement regular monitoring mechanisms to provide insight to determine and coordinate the resultant actions to ensure implementation, control and alignment of the planning and pricing strategy.
  • Maintain a good understanding of local and international policy, ensuring adherence and implementation of best-practice planning and pricing governance
  • Ensure integrity of financial reporting data whilst providing financial and technical insight and expertise, including financial modelling throughout the business to influence senior stakeholder’s decisions.
  • Manage the interface with the business to deliver transparent and effective cross-business pricing oversight. This includes a regime of operational interaction with Controlling, Risk and Finance as well as operational management of Pricing Committee requirements
  • Respond to and co-ordinate headquarter and local queries.
  • Provide specialist support, as required to other business areas.
  • Assist with other Planning or Pricing related activities as required by the Controlling Business Partner including other existing Commercial products or emerging lines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • You have a proactive approach with the ability to react appropriately and effectively to changing circumstances and demands
  • You can communicate complex issues with integrity at all levels up to, and including, Board level
  • Excellent numeric and problem solving skills with appropriate degree or financial qualification, a part qualified accountant would be an advantage in this role as well as P+L experience
  • Proven ability to provide accurate data in a fast paced environment
  • An appreciation of stakeholder requirements in particular Brands and Retailers
  • You can demonstrate your experience and ability to negotiate and influence decision making
  • Strong analytical skills including advanced Excel skills are essential
  • You are process orientated and have a methodical approach to managing simultaneous work streams and projects
  • Proactive and engaging mind, having a record of analyzing complex and unrelated issues, and making appropriate and successful recommendations in response
  • All of our colleagues work in our Milton Keynes office for a minimum of 1 day per week and you can do more of your prefer
