Job Description
  • Review and analyze complex business transactions and initiatives; discern and document tax sensitive issues; conduct and document technical research to determine the most advantageous tax position available, identify and document alternatives and communicate results in a timely, organized, clear and comprehensive manner
  • Support the development and implementation of tax related projects
  • Review, analyze and provide advice with respect to significant income and non-income tax audits
  • Update and review all income tax and non-income tax positions on an on-going basis and as part of the quarter close reserve process
  • Report on tax law changes documenting material changes and their potential impact on the business
  • Closely monitor and respond appropriately to material Government policy and legislative developments, ensuring implications are fully understood by stakeholders
  • Interact and conduct negotiations with tax authorities in the countries of responsibility
  • Coordinate with outside tax counsel and other tax advisors with respect to audit and other projects
  • Monitor the tax aspects of the company’s dividend policy. Proactively advise business partners if a more tax efficient policy or arrangement is appropriate. Review and advise impact of dividends and loans
  • Work with the Global Transfer Pricing team and transfer price advisors to ensure all transfer pricing requirements and related documentation requirements are satisfied
  • Prepare, review and coordinate the management of tax ruling requests and Advanced Pricing Agreements (APA) as appropriate
  • Interact with and provide advice to country and regional management teams at all levels regarding specific technical local and regional tax matters
  • Analyze tax consequences of transactions on local statutory and USGAAP books (income statement, cash flow and balance sheet)
  • Participate in New Country Opening cross-functional teams as part of the New Country Opening process. Support the tax due diligence process in the countries of responsibility
  • Coordinate with the Global and Regional Controllership to provide all information relevant to preparation of tax items in income statement and balance sheet. Assist with tax accounting as needed with support or information required for statutory audits
  • Coordinate the preparation, review and summary of technical advice and opinion letters of outside tax counsel
  • Review, analyze and summarize foreign court decisions, legislation and administrative regulations to advise management as to the impact on the company. Recommend and implement actions to mitigate or benefit from changes
  • Prepare and/or review intercompany agreements. Participate in the review of third-party agreements
  • Advice on the tax impact of business transactions involving multiple jurisdictions (for example, cross border issues, double taxation treaties, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, VAT)
  • Ensuring full compliance with all the applicable Corporate Policies. Propose changes when the policies and procedures are no longer ‘fit for purpose’
  • Develop and implement tax compliance and risk management policies, processes and controls across the organization to drive compliance and manage the group’s direct, indirect and employment tax risks
  • Provide advisory support in the production of financial statements from a tax reporting and disclosure perspective
  • Ensuring the group is tax compliant across multiple jurisdictions
  • Ensure key business, strategy and organizational developments are identified at an early stage to enable changes to be implemented on a timely basis.
  • Drive cost and process efficiencies in the areas of tax compliance and reporting through automation of the group’s financial and tax systems. Ensure systems and records meet tax authority real-time information requirements
  • Support the Company’s digital tax strategy that meets current and future requirements for the region and the group
  • Manage and develop key stakeholder relationships, including senior management and functional heads, external advisors and tax authorities
  • Manage and develop external tax advisor relationships to obtain highest quality advice and drive efficient tax compliance processes in a cost effective manner
  • Coach, mentor and supervise the members of the Controllership team responsible for routine tax compliance matters
  • Propose new initiatives and process improvements to assist the Company to Build It Better
