Job Description

The candidate will join the team in charge of all the accounting aspects of Sales, and Inventory-related elements for EMEA. The team is also responsible for supervising the standard cost setting process and for multiple forecasts (P&L) and reporting related to its areas of expertise.

The main responsibilities will be to:

  • Supervise, monitor and review Month-end close activities and key accounts' reconciliations in accordance with SOX requirements 
  • Manage external and internal auditors' requests and coordinate the team's effort in that respect
  • Manage the team on the following recurring activities (non-exhaustive list): inventory costing, material ledger related activities, accounts' clearing, retail flow reconciliations and issue resolution 
  • Support the Senior Manager in the coordination and review of key inventory reserves (i.e. NRV) and the monthly P&L / BS forecasts
  • Support the GL Accounting team in the preparation of the European statutory financial statements (i.e. US GAAP to Local GAAP adjustments, financial statements' notes, etc.)
  • Supervise, monitor and review closing activities performed by the team 
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy and supporting documents are adequate and comply with RL / GAAP requirements
  • Review accounts' reconciliations and ensure compliance with company requirements 
  • Partner with General Ledger team to manage US GAAP to Local GAAP adjustments and Statutory financial statements preparation
  • Provide accounting leadership on Inventory accounting areas and on other ones when needed
  • Supervise and provide guidance on Costing, Material ledger close and CSP program 
  • Supervise and provide guidance on account's monitoring and clearing
  • Manage external and internal auditors' requests and coordinate the team's effort in that respect 
  • Support the Senior Manager in the coordination, preparation and review of the forecast and actualization of the main inventory reserve: NRV (Net Realizable Value) 
  • Support the Senior Manager in the coordination, preparation and review of the various forecasts and reporting (P&L) prepared by the team
  • Manage ad-hoc assignments and special projects as require
  • Support the implementation of new IT solutions (new interfaces etc)
  • Identify and lead process improvements and efficiency enhancement opportunities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Leadership and project management skills 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills (written and verbal)
  • Results oriented, flexible, resourceful, and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple deliverables 
  • Advanced analytical skills and “out of the box” thinking to logically question and proactively flag potential issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills, Can-do attitude and strong decision-making abilities 
  • Autonomous, Strong time-management skills and ability to adhere to tight deadlines / deliver under pressure
  • Strong customer service to the business and to senior management 
  • Experienced in driving improvements and change within a finance function
  • University degree in accounting, finance, business or economics
  • 6 -8 years of proven experience in audit, finance and/or accounting
  • CPA / ACCA or equivalent a plus 
  • Retail or multi-unit industries experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel 
  • Proficiency in SAP a strong asset
  • Solid understanding of inventory sub-ledger and general ledger applications 
  • Statutory financial statement experience a plus
