Job Description

Fantastic opportunity for a qualified accounts senior or semi-senior (looking to progress to the next level) to join this thriving and prestigious top 100 firm.

The accounts senior role reports directly to the department management team which currently consists of two partners, an associate director, a manager and an assistant manager who take responsibility for the day to day operational, tactical and strategic running of the department. The department consists of 14 staff in total within an accountancy firm that currently employs 70+ individuals and is headed by a partner group of 6 individuals.

The role is a combination of undertaking accounts preparation work, liaising with clients to resolve accounts issues and queries including the transition to MTD compliant systems, assisting in the training of staff as appropriate and undertaking your own client assignments. This will include management and year end accounts preparation through to ad hoc assignments covering all aspects of financial advice to clients and co-ordinating with other departments in the firm.

Working a 35 hour week on preparation of accounts and other client assignments.

Day to day work will include:

  • Preparation of unaudited financial statements from clients’ management Information
  • Preparation of management accounts from client information
  • Advising clients on the application of and best practice within their accounting systems.
  • Assisting with the preparation and filing of VAT returns
  • Support on specialist financial reporting work

In your position you will be expected to:

  • Have a clear and accurate technical understanding of the compilation of financial statements under UK GAAP.
  • Be able to prepare basic corporation tax computations for further review by the tax department.
  • Have a working knowledge of VAT and payroll tax issues with a view to identifying problems/improvements and solutions in client’s records.
  • Be able to establish a good working relationship with clients and colleagues based on technical competence, clear communication and an approachable manner.
  • Assist other members of staff with ad hoc assignments as required.

This job will be appropriate for a qualified individual (ACA, ACCA) either in an audit or non audit environment. The role does not involve any audit exposure.

We offer a mix of office based working/working from home. In a typical week the role would involve 2 to 3 days based in the office and the remainder based at home. Relevant electronic equipment to assist with this will be provided.
