Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Our client is looking for an expereinced credit manager look to join their fast-growing group of businesses based in Manchester.

They are looking for a confident self-starter who ideally has previous experience leading a team within a busy service business. This hire will be key to building long term relationships with clients, and ensuring good cash flow for the business as they continue to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective team management and leadership
  • Reviewing and improve existing Credit Control and self-billing processes
  • Managing set up of new self-billing accounts and supporting self-billing team
  • Risk assessment - assessing a client’s ability to repay, both existing and new clients by using various financial information.
  • Authorisation process of new clients
  • Setting up the terms and amount of credit, as well as monitoring repayments to ensure payments are made on time
  • Negotiating payment plans
  • Managing escalated items from collections team
  • Liaising with external parties and solicitors when necessary
  • Insolvency work - completing 'Proof of Debt’ forms, attending creditor meetings etc.
  • Managing Bad Debt reserve and reporting as per company policies
  • Ensuring the Group Credit Policy is adhered to across the businesses
  • Visiting clients - both for problematic accounts and as goodwill visits
  • Producing monthly and daily management information as part of the senior management reporting
  • Coordinating monthly meetings between Credit Control and Senior management.
  • Staff development and coaching
  • Ensuring all business objectives and deadlines are met by the team
  • Ensuring compliance with Sox and internal controls and policies
  • Responsible for internal & external audits in close collaboration with the Financial Controller (FC)
  • Processing of ad-hoc general journals
  • Assisting with the consolidation of accounts and report pack in close cooperation with the FC
  • Assisting with strategic initiatives
  • Ad hoc duties as may be required by management

Minimum job requirements

  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and skills
  • Successful management of large debtor book
  • Excellent Management Skills
  • Good written and verbal skills and strong relationship building skills
  • Be commercially astute and credible with business unit stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel knowledge
  • Work accurately and pay attention to detail
