Job Description

A well-established firm of chartered accountants is recruiting for an Accounts Senior to join the team at its office in Guildford, to take responsibility for the delivery of a full range of accounts and tax services for clients. This firm is offering a role, within which, you will build and maintain strong client relationships and work closely with team members in other areas of the business.

As Accounts Senior your responsibilities will include:

  • Statutory accounts preparation
  • Preparation and submission self-assessment returns and a small number of trust tax returns to meet all tax deadlines
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in the firm’s procedures and documentation
  • Provide ad-hoc accounting and tax advice to clients on a wide range of issues
  • Liaising with clients and HMRC
  • Prepare and submit residential property CGT returns for both resident and non-resident clients
  • Assist on preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Assisting with the payroll / CIS for clients
  • Preparing and submission of P11D / P11Db forms
  • Undertaking meetings with new and existing clients to develop and maintain excellent working relationships and win future business

We welcome applications from candidates with the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Previous accounts and tax experience gained within a practice environment
  • Ideally be qualified AAT, ACCA, ACA, CTA or ATT, although, part qualified or qualified by experience candidates would be considered
  • Be IT literate; IRIS experience would be preferred, experience of Sage, Xero, Taxfiler, TaxCalc, Caseware or similar software would be an advantage
  • Understanding of VAT on property areas
  • Knowledge of all aspects of personal tax, including property, share options and RSUs, and up-to-date knowledge of developments in taxation and tax legislation
  • Able to meet all deadlines including the ability to work on multiple clients simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills
