Job Description

The candidate needs to be able to easily understand business processes, supporting information technologies, and finance / accounting / tax concepts, as well as the impacts of each on the project. They also need to be able to communicate in these areas with current process owners and executive level project stakeholders.
Job responsibilities include:

  • Driving process improvements; enable streamlining to achieve operational efficiencies, benchmarking, and development of performance metrics
  • Documenting end-to-end transaction and systems flows that explain the source of data, where it is stored, and how it gets into the hands of the end user
  • Building and implementing training plans and materials to drive adoption of new processes, templates and tools.
  • Working with engineering teams to define, scope and prioritize product requirements.
  • Building project plans and identifying dependencies during the planning process.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop and launch Global Tax programs and initiatives – activities include defining project objectives and deliverables, executive reporting, documenting Tax requirements and communicating requirements to engineering and business teams, designing and implementing solutions.
  • Liaising with cross-functional stakeholders consisting of Amazon Businesses, Tax, Accounting, Treasury, HR, Legal, Finance Operations, and technical teams to provide comprehensive status updates.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of tooling, templates, process improvements and trainings, to varied audiences.
  • Diving deep where needed to resolve blocking issues during project execution, testing, launch and cutover.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in two out of three of Finance (particularly Tax and Accounting), Program Management, and IT
  • Experience in many of the following disciplines is desired: tax compliance and reporting, external and internal audit, SOX, accounting month end close, controls and reconciliation process improvement, or financial systems integration
  • Experience in process and tooling / template design, and / or facilitating trainings and workshops on such content
  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Experience leveraging technology to develop and improve processes
  • Experience delivering results amidst resource constraints and ambiguity
  • Ability to communicate successfully across cultures, in writing and in person
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data, including developing and reporting on metrics
  • Experience and desire to work in an environment similar to a high tech startup
