Job Description

• The operation and integrity of financial systems including the general ledger and the Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting (PB&F) module, including monthly reconciliation of feeder systems and locally produced data.
• Monthly reporting of actual costs, forecast of outturn and variance analysis.
• Production of monthly Budget Holder reports.
• Overseeing the Accounts Payable/Receivable, Fixed Asset Management and Pay functions, ensuring a full audit trail is kept.
• Provide support to the compilation of the Annual Resource Accounts (ARAc).
• Responsible for the costing of all measures and preparation of related documents within the data input.
• Manage delegations for account holders. Ensure compliance of minimum checks of accounts/transactions.
• Provide advice and guidance on matters of regularity and propriety.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful applicant will be a confident, articulate individual, who can command the confidence of Budget Holders, who will seek advice on forecasting, budgeting and preparing procurement requests. Line Management ability, alongside enthusiasm and motivation to succeed in the role are considered as valuable as financial experience.

Desirable skills and experience include previous experience of working within the MOD Finance function, particularly in-year management. Advanced Microsoft Excel user with skills suited to manipulation of large volumes of financial data. Working knowledge of financial systems.
