Job Description

The role will initially involve establishing the overall controllership framework for the Segment as referenced above, because of the recently announced spin-off. After the spin-off, the role will be responsible for the ongoing controllership execution and management for the Segment. Ideal candidates should have experience in accounting, financial reporting and closing/consolidation in addition to solid skills in problem solving, verbal and written communication, and working cross functionally in a global organization

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead accounting processes for Research & Development arrangements in the Ultrasound Segment.
  • Includes periodic reviews with the operational/product teams to ensure appropriate recording, categorization, capitalization and impairment evaluations (if applicable). 
  • Manage accounting conclusions related to New Product Introductions (NPIs) revenue recognition models in the Ultrasound Segment.
  • Engage in quarterly discussions with the product development teams, monitor development status, legal rollouts and approvals.
  • Identify, escalate and resolve exceptions from company’s accounting policies/processes with the Global Headquarters team.
  • Assist in operationalizing the process for related commercial transactions.
  • Review external software development programs for appropriate accounting, including controls, sign-off, impairment risk, and amortization.
  • Ensure consistency of accounting with company’s accounting policies/procedures and collaborate with the Global Headquarters team to resolve any exceptions. 
  • Review slow moving, excess inventory at the global and regional levels for Ultrasound Segment.
  • Align with Supply Chain controller to ensure proper tracking and action.
  • Review relevant accruals (for example, logistics, and legal) for appropriate quarterly close conclusions. 
  • Review warranty and extended warranty offerings to ensure proper accounting treatment at the Segment level while collaborating with the Global Headquarters team to ensure consistency.
  • Track potential Field Modifications (or recalls) impacting the Segments by establishing rhythms with Product and Quality teams.
  • Review and document need for any accruals and review potential amounts. 
  • Support any Segment-level restructuring activity, including booking of restructuring reserves and partner with Finance/HR teams to monitor restructuring spend against such reserves.
  • Collaborate with Regional Controllers to perform annual reviews for Missing in Shipment (MIS) accruals and monitor fulfillment risks to ensure best estimates are accrued at reporting periods. 
  • Perform annual fair market value updates, including input from all regions to support various calculations at the overall Segment level.
  • Create and manage a review process for validation of financial metrics and external disclosures in SEC filings (i.e., 10K/10Q) with the Segment leadership team, including Segment CEO and CFO. 
  • Conduct impairment evaluations and reviews for Segment Goodwill/Intangible Assets.
  • Obtain an understanding and review results of the periodic expense allocation process utilized by FP&A (including the relevant keys and computation process)
  • Own and update any segment-level accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide training to appropriate Finance Managers and CFOs on segment-level policies and procedures 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Regional Commercial Controllers for global Imaging deals impacting more than one region.
  • Own the balance sheet review process for the segment, including obtaining inputs and analyses from key stakeholders at the Segment level.
  • Other financial and segment related activities, as applicable

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance
  • Demonstrated expertise in application of policies and procedures for day-to-day accounting and financial transactions.
  • Working level understanding of US GAAP and SEC requirements for areas of responsibility for this role.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with creation, review and presentation of balance sheet review packages or other similar financial review packages.
  • Clear thinking / strong problem-solving grasp new ideas quickly; take initiative to understand root causes of issues and development solutions; able to work independently; manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner; able to deliver messages effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others
  • Experience with financial systems/applications (i.e.: Oracle, Hyperion etc.), strong Excel skills
  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent (i.e., Chartered Accountant)
  • Demonstrated ability working in cross functional teams or in matrixed organization with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows.
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills Adaptable/ Flexible:
  • Ability to work beyond role boundaries or with uncertainty & fluid situations- able to embrace change in response to new information, unexpected or different circumstances and ambiguous situation.
