Promote a culture of effective risk management and compliance in line with the Conduct Risk program.
Demonstrate ethical leadership and promote the highest standards of integrity, probity and corporate governance.
Oversee the setting and management of the risk exposures across the UK Branch, including an assessment of the Branch's business strategy, risk appetite, prudential risk, conduct and board effectiveness.
Oversee the management of risks and risk controls across the UK Branch within the parameters of the UK Branch risk management framework and in compliance with UK Branch risk policies and procedures and requirements of the regulatory system.
Monitor risk controls across the UK Branch.
Provide independent oversight and challenge of effectiveness of processes for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, management and reporting.
Provide subject matter expertise and challenge to business response, management and mitigation of material risk exposures and red flags.
Monitor business compliance with UK Branch policies and procedures and effectiveness of risk identification and management.
Ensure all UK Branch staff are risk aware via ongoing education and training programmes.
Participate in the design and implementation of incentive plans that provide employees with incentives that do not encourage excessive risk-taking; promote effective controls and risk management and are supported by strong corporate governance.
Monitor compliance with and effectiveness of incentive arrangements.
Provide oversight and challenge of Risk Management information, including scope, timeliness and effectiveness.
Monitor regulatory compliance adherence of daily Risk Management activities.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.
Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years’ risk management related experience (risk, compliance, legal, audit), or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 9 years’ risk management related experience (risk, compliance, legal, audit)
Demonstrated leadership capabilities
Proficient computer skills, including pertinent spreadsheet and word processing software
Proven analytical skills
Working knowledge of applicable laws
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven stress testing and scenario analysis experience
General understanding of relevant products in commercial lending and treasury operations
Strong correspondent banking knowledge
Strong risk analysis knowledge
Working knowledge of Loan Agency and Structured Finance products
Comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulations and key regulatory regimes
Knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice in the UK financial services industry
