Job Description

The role will require the incumbent to have a high level of influence and work closely with the business teams in country to identify risks that could materialize within the UK for our credit, insurance and payments businesses.
The role will also help develop our regulatory engagement strategy on a range of compliance issues, work closely with Amazon’s Public Policy team to manage company’s interactions with regulators and other partners. The ideal candidate will have experience of managing horizon scanning functions and working with business leads to onboard new regulations and products to our systems.
Key job responsibilities

  • Develop strategic relationships with partner teams in company and advise them of significant compliance matters that require their attention or action.
  • Proactively anticipate or help the business plan for changes in the compliance and regulatory environment.
  • Provide support to the Business on policy interpretation and “grey area” exposures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other functional leads, including Legal, Internal Audit, Assurance and Risk to grow a supportive and seamless compliance culture with an appropriate risk environment.
  • Maintain and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure revisions are communicated to relevant teams.
  • Work with Senior Management to ensure continued improvement in self-identification of issues, and appropriate escalation and monitoring processes to ensure timely and effective remediation to mitigate compliance risk.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to influence regulators and policy makers to improve our compliance approach and act as a policy advocate.
  • Oversee the ongoing monitoring and testing of the control environment working with the EMEA Assurance function.
  • Oversee and conduct ongoing training.
  • Oversee completion of all necessary regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of several key controls related to the RCS compliance program across the UK, including, but not limited to, oversight of consumer protection, AML, sanctions screening, regulatory reporting, and financial promotions approval.
  • Payments or e-commerce compliance background
  • Experience working with international teams across multiple time-zones

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • BA/BS or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in compliance program management within traditional or non-traditional financial services (compliance or PMO function).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex issues for consumption by technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management and executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status-quo and drive for results in ambiguous and fast paced environments.
  • Capability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, problem solve, and continually calibrate priorities with minimal supervision.
