Job Description

You will have a rare opportunity to shape the risk management approach, with the opportunity to do meaningful work that makes a real difference. You will be exposed to the workings of the company across all Divisions, including a sense of the key risk drivers and decisions in several areas. You will have the opportunity to influence and interact with a wide range of senior stakeholders, including Board members and Exco members.
What are the key responsibilities?

  • To lead and manage a team of risk advisors.
  • Working closely with company divisions, provide a clear oversight opinion on the effectiveness of the company in managing its operational, execution and public confidence risks.
  • Provide subject matter expertise into material first line activities.
  • Lead the preparation of opinions for Senior and Executive Management that objectively challenge and enable appropriate risk management decisions.
  • Lead on the delivery of specific organizational deliverables including core components of the Risk management Framework

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent written language skills.
  • Expertise in Operational Risk Management, Regulatory Risk or audit methodologies.
  • Experience of taking a project-based approach to complex problems
  • Evidence of leadership skills and ability to manage and lead a technical team.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders on high-profile and sensitive risks and issues.
  • Understanding of the operational challenges, risks and issues faced by a modern regulator.
  • Leadership, coaching and management experience understanding of how to motivate and enable high performing teams.
  • Evidence building and maintaining a strong professional relationship with stakeholders
  • Understanding of the company's functions and objectives within the UK financial regulatory framework and thecompany's approach to regulating and supervising financial markets.
  • Ability to manage competing workloads across a broad portfolio, thrive under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
  • A strong team player with the ability to be flexible and pragmatic. Able to adapt to changing circumstances, positively embracing new approaches
  • Demonstrable capability for strategic thinking.
  • IRM Certification / Advanced Diploma in Risk Management or equivalent.
