Job Description

Part of the Commercial Finance management team responsible for the oversight of client case management, adherence to revenue accounting standards and driving best practice. Providing leadership, guidance and direction to the Commercial Finance Team and being an active member of both the L-A-B(London-Amsterdam-Brussels) and Global Finance teams in shaping the global commercial finance agenda of company. The role reports to the L-A-B Commercial Finance Senior Manager.

  • Responsible for ensuring Commercial Finance processes are completed on a timely basis, that best practice and minimum standards are met.
  • Adherence to Finance Minimum Standards with regards to case management and client contracting
  • Regular review with Project Accountants of their portfolio of projects focusing on case forecasting, profitability and monitoring of potential risks and overruns
  • Oversight of WIP management ensuring high levels of accuracy and consistency in classification and timings of accounting entries
  • Provide guidance and direction to the project accountants on the support to partners and case teams on the financial management of projects
  • Support on client contracting giving guidance to the project accountants, highlighting any risks or deviations from minimum standards to the case team and Commercial Finance Senior Manager/Commercial Finance Director
  • Responsible for the coordination of year end audit activities in relation to revenue
  • Play a proactive role in identifying and addressing areas for improvement to the local accounting processes to gain efficiencies, which is inclusive of, but not limited to assisting with local development and implementation of financial applications
  • Build, manage, coach, and develop direct team
  • Act as a mentor and coach to the wider London and L-A-B Finance team
  • Support the other Finance Managers during sickness and holidays to ensure smooth overall running of L-A-B Finance function
  • Create an encouraging, supporting and stimulating work environment for all finance staff
  • Being an active change manager in all global finance initiatives

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of the consulting business, and the nature of work we do with clients
  • High proficiency in all standard software and ERP (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Oracle, SAP etc.)

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Minimum 3 years in a Finance Manager role or 4 years post qualification experience
  • Expert knowledge in accounting standards with the focus on revenue recognition
  • Professional services experience
  • Experience across finance functions, including experience in general accounting and familiarity with US GAAP, tax and treasury, financial systems and financial reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lead a wide range of people and personalities
  • Strong organizational skills, orientation to detail and initiative
  • Ability and willingness to provide a wide range of financial services from routine to more complex financial management tasks
  • Proficiency to work with systems and willingness to learn more as required
  • Excellent English skills (verbal and written communication) and meeting presence.
